About Brookvale

Brookvale was set up in recognition of the increasing problem of personal debt. More and more, individuals over stretch their financial resources. When cash flow problems strike, clients default on their repayments. In response lenders often have to spend considerable sums trying to recoup their outlay through Internal Recovery Units, External Collection Agencies or the Courts. This action often does not result in success as the client is simply unable to cope will all the demands put upon them by what are often multiple lender organisations.

The experience of many lenders is that problem clients make promises to pay which they just do not keep. In the majority of cases, this is normally because clients have multiple creditors. They find themselves using all the money they have available to pay the creditor who is shouting the loudest on the day. This invariably means that they no longer have funds available to meet the payment promise they made the day before.

Why Are We Different?

Unlike other organisations, Brookvale is not focused on one debt solution (e.g. Pro Rata Solutions).

Brookvale will spend time to understand the client's situation including both surplus income and realisable assets. Brookvale is then in a position to recommend a solution which will best fit the circumstances while providing the best possible return for creditors. Each lender will therefore receive equitable payment without running the risk that another creditor has "got there first".

Solutions recommended by Brookvale may include one or a combination of the following: Lump Sum settlements, Pro-Rata payments, Individual Voluntary Arrangement, Company Voluntary Arrangement and even Bankruptcy.

Service Delivery

Brookvale achieves its offering by providing a unique review of a client's circumstances. Firstly, Brookvale staff provide personal contact with clients. Then if required, the client's details will be passed to an independent Insolvency Practitioner for further review and recommendation. Informal solutions are provided by Brookvale in house. If a formal solution such as IVA is appropriate, this will be passed on to a preferred Insolvency Practitioner.

The four key steps employed by Brookvale to achieve a repayment commitment for lenders are as follows:

  • Initial contact between client and Brookvale staff to establish he nature of the client problem
  • Unique face to face consultation between client and Brookvale Field Associate to fully understand the client's financial circumstances and ability to repay their debt *
  • Independent review and presentation of most equitable repayment solution by Insolvency Practitioner if required.
  • Ongoing management of the accepted solution ensuring repayment as agreed.
* Brookvale will arrange a personal home visit for debt over £10,000.
Benefits Achieved

Brookvale reviews each client situation without a preconception of the solution which will be appropriate. This ensures that the best possible solution for both client and creditor is identified and recommended. Depending on the nature of the solution, the lender will have assess, not only to disposable income, but any other assets and equity that the client can realise.

If a Pro Rata repayment plan is recommended, the client is given a choice as to whether they require the payments within this plan to be managed by Brookvale or not. This gives clients the opportunity to make the maximum return to creditors each month.

If an IVA solution can be achieved, the maximum return to creditors within a reasonable time period is generated. The solution provides a plan for the client with a clear beginning and end date. With "Light at the End of the Tunnel", the client's resolve to maintain the plan is strengthened.

Solutions presented by Brookvale are developed around the requirements of the lenders. Brookvale is open to inspection from lenders at any time. Suggestions regarding improvements and modifications to proposals to enable a better return for lenders are welcomed.
